Workshop Description

Join us for a week of watercolor painting in the Italian countryside with Marcos Beccari. This art retreat aims to provide participants with Marcos Beccari's understanding of the watercolor technique, with an emphasis on portrait painting and the human form. From demonstrations and guided studies with photographic references, students will learn the use of color and value, as well as anatomical rhythm, lighting and expressiveness. Beyond the technical properties of watercolor, the course prioritizes an integrated understanding of the entire painting process, in order to instruct the students to achieve realistic consistency in their artwork. Marcos' first language is Portuguese, during the week he will be accompanied by someone who will help him to translate his teachings to English. Be prepared to fully immerse yourself in painting for an entire week, learning new and valuable information.

During this all-inclusive art retreat, meals will be home-cooked by our wonderful Tuscan chef, and eaten together in our large dining room, or outside on the terrace with a view of the vineyards. After class you will have free use of the grounds to explore, including the swimming pool, woodland, lake and olive groves. Join us for evenings around the fire, or for our after-class events, such as a night of live music, pizza night using the outdoor pizza oven, and tasting the wine produced here at the venue. If you need to unwind after class we have a volleyball/badminton net, football field, and a games room with table tennis and table football. Otherwise feel free to continue practicing your art, sketching by the lake, or contine painting in our studio, which is always open.
This is a chance to focus on you and your art, you'll be living and working together, and alongside Marcos, with the opportunity to dive deep into eachother's knowledge and experience, building relationships, whilst making the most of the surrounding nature in this beautiful Tuscan setting.
